In this paper I defend the thesis that posthumanism, understood as the set of theories aimed at re-discussing the ordinary concept of “human”, is decisive – both ethically and ontologically – in solving the classic problems regarding the discrimination of forms of “otherness” as different from a prototypical archetype of humanity. The next stage lies in re-examining the foundations of the anthropocentric paradigm that tends to turn “innocent” ontological properties into ethical levels of reality aimed at organizing the world from a social and political point of view.

Abstract

In this paper I defend the thesis that posthumanism, understood as the set of theories aimed at re-discussing the ordinary concept of “human”, is decisive – both ethically and ontologically – in solving the classic problems regarding the discrimination of forms of “otherness” as different from a prototypical archetype of humanity. The next stage lies in re-examining the foundations of the anthropocentric paradigm that tends to turn “innocent” ontological properties into ethical levels of reality aimed at organizing the world from a social and political point of view.
