As part of the PhD, the vocational and the lifelong guidance are new path in the Phd program. The history of vocational guidance is rooted within the middle and high school and it has been introduced, just recently, at the University. This paper intends to foster a reflection on the factors and purposes of vocational and lifelong guidance in the path of doctorate. The vocational guidance cannot be separated from the lifelong guidance: one addresses the sense of professionalism in research, while the other outlines the skills and identity, supporting their projects, and the concurrency. In this perspective, we describe some experiences of assessment and discuss the employability advantages at the workplace.
