Il senso del locale. L’integrazione attraverso l’informazione di prossimità

The immigration phenomenon is still being described by the Italian media in a strictly one-dimensional way. It is often linked to criminal discourse and presented as a worldwide problem for society. Although immigration is a global phenomena, the impact of the integration relationship is more crucial within local dimension. In the globalization era territory studies in Italy are an important key to understanding the link between Politics and Social Structure and the local media studies are an important component of this. While the great public dis courses tend to produce a simplified image of this particular category of people, a local approach could create a more logical representation of the relationship between immigrants and residents. Starting with a general reflection on the “sense of the local”, this contribution will examine some studies focused on the link between, immigration, territory and the local media representation of the issue.
