Modificaciones constitucionales en Bélgica. La Sixième réforme de l'Etat: un proceso en marcha

The Accord du Papillon started the Belgium Sexième réforme de l’Etat. After a long institutional crisis, an agreement between the major parties seemed the best way to ensure a stable government to the country and to enhance a new season of constitutional reforms. It consisted, so far, in two sessions (2012 and 2014) that brought to the adoption of both legislative and constitutional acts. Two reforms appear crucial. First and foremost, the Sexième réforme de l’Etat set forth the criteria to divide the Bruxelles-Hal Vilvorde district. Furthermore, it determined the Senate reform. Nonetheless, in the past months, the reformist enthusiasm decreased gradually, but probably this is a temporary situation: in Belgium, things are more complicated than they seem, so it is hard to have the last word.
