This article provides an explanation for a hitherto controversial passage in Wulfila's Bible: Luke 14:28. The unusual ordering of phrase elements, and in particular of the pronoun hvas in this verse, can be accounted for by interpreting the pronoun as indefinite rather than as interrogative. Evidence is provided for considering indefinite hvas as a non-stressed phrase element, opposed to interrogative hvas, which is always tonic.
