Honesto y rentable entretenimiento: restitutio de una buena inversión en la cultura.

This article analyzes the production of Italian Literature books translated into Castilian at the beginning of printing activities in Southern Spain in the late XVIth century. The study is focused on Francisco Truchado, an intellectual from Baeza, who translated Giovan Francesco Straparola’s Le Piacevoli Notti as Honesto y agradable entretenimiento de damas y galanes. This work was produced within the research project “Italian Novellieri and Their Influence in Renaissance and Baroque European Culture: Editions, Translations, Adaptations,” sponsored by the Università degli Studi di Torino through a convention with Compagnia di San Paolo (Turin, Italy).
