Abstract

The transformations occurred in the Middle East after the outbreak of the Arab uprisings have paved the way to the resurgence of studies on this region of the world. Most of them, however, rely on a «certain» representation of the area as only marked by conflict and violence. In this article, this narrative is deconstructed through the analysis of the case of the struggle between Shia and Sunni, and that of a geopolitical abomination, the «Syraq».
