Des tissus dans tous les sens: d'une terminologie didactique à la communication professionnelle du projet "Voce del Verbo moda"

The symbolic power and connotation that fashion often charges on fabrics has recently received much attention. In this article, we will focus on garments in their textile components with the aim of analysing the field of fashion under different points of view. In particular, starting from a theoretical framework of French for Specific Purposes (FOS), the analysis aims to investigate the terminology, the discourse and cultural patterns and their impact in language teaching. In this regard, the research activity was carried out during the development of a project dedicated to fashion (Voce del verbo moda). The project involved university teachers and students as well as professionals in the field of fashion industry and culture. The final result of the research has brought to the realisation of an Italian - French bilingual glossary on selected tissues from the Ermenegildo Zegna’s archives, one of the most reputed Italian luxury fashion house. The glossary is available on the website of “Voce del verbo moda”.
