The reception of Petar II Petrović Njegoš, one of the most important representatives of South Slavic Romanticism, and his works in Italian culture is rather complex and it is marked by various aspects and phases. This theme was not particularly explored within the Slavic studies in Italy, despite many contributions made. The report deals with one aspect of this reception, namely the image of Njegoš and his works in contemporary university courses; taking into consideration that his works are present in all Serbo-Croatian literary histories and overviews in Italian, as well as in all curricula of Slavic Studies at Italian universities. The analysis shows that even most notable Slavic studies scholars such as Cronia, Maver and Meriggi did not substantially contribute to the research of Njegoš’s works or made any significant discovery; no matter they conducted comprehensive research and offered varied information in the their textbooks. However, the results of polls among the colleagues and students show that Njegoš can be interesting, and challenging for students even today, which in great deal depends on the professors of Serbo-Croatian who find various ways and modes in explaining and decoding, first of all, Gorski vijenac, and then the other Njegoš’s works. Therefore, it is evident that there is a problem of inadequate and out-of-date university textbooks and anthologies, and there is the need for new up-to-date and contemporary materials for university courses in Italian.

Abstract
Therefore, it is evident that there is a problem of inadequate and out-of-date university textbooks and anthologies, and there is the need for new up-to-date and contemporary materials for university courses in Italian.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
