This paper analyzes the «made in» signs. The Author firstly defines the meaning of «made in» and the rules governing this category, starting from the Paris Convention up to TRIPs. The Author then focuses on the different signs expressing a «made in» quality (rules of origin, trademarks, GIs’, etc.). The examination of this matter leads to some concluding remarks on the costs and benefits of the system of «made in» signs and shows some possible areas of de jure condendo intervention.
