Total Knee Arthroplasties (TKA) are increasing, consequently, also the numbers of revision TKA re growing. Different authors identified the main causes of TKA failure: 1) Septic loosening; 2) Aseptic loosening; 3) Extensor apparatus insufficiency; 4) Stiffness; 5) Instability; 6) Periprosthetic fracture; 7) Anterior knee pain and malrotation; 8) Implant breakage; 9) Unknown, also called the “Mistery Knee”. In this manuscript the main causes of TKA failure will be discussed, as well as the possible indication to TKA revision.
