La dimensione globalista dell'arte. Wang Guangyi e il transculturalismo

Which is the current condition of art in contemporary era? To answer, in this paper I try to show that today’s art attests a globalist dimension whose main characters are the following ones: (i) the transnational hybridization, as described by philosopher Noël Carroll (2007); (ii) the cross-culturalism, thought as a mutual exchange between different cultural models; (iii) the maintenance of creative rules and conventions belonging to the traditionalist creative model of art; (iv) the adoption of the conceptualist creative model to make art; (v) the possible combination between the two creative models in light of the transnational hybridization and of cross-culturalism. To verify if this picture could be correct and adequate, first I introduce some remarks about the relationship between art and globalization, and second I focus my investigation on the work of the Chinese artist Wang Guangyi, which I think it represents a significative case of globalist art according with the features mentioned.
