The paper describes one of the most interesting translations of Tasso's Aminta written by Henry Reynolds(1628)and examines the context of composition-translation in the light of a need for new style and a different consciousness of what, how and to what extent words convey knowledge in a platonic philosophical and aesthetic framework.
