The paper intend to examine the quesiton of foreign authors writing in their host country by focusing on two writers of Yugoslav origin: Božidar Stanišić (1956) and Nikola P. Savić (1977). Their novels reflect themes present in the work of many exiled and migrant authors, for example loss and acquisition of identity, salvaging memories of the past and the perception of life in Italy.
