Emanuele Dal Pozzo della Cisterna, uno dei più noti liberali piemontesi della Restaurazione, fu arrestato nel marzo 1821 pochi giorni prima dello scoppio dei moti costituzionali; esule in Svizzera e poi a Parigi fu condannato a morte in contumacia. L’analisi del suo ingente patrimonio sottoposto a confisca rappresenta un caso eccellente di studio sui sequestri dei moti del ’21 e, comparata con quella subita dai beni di altri suoi compagni, consente di svolgere considerazioni generali sulle strategie messe in atto dagli esuli per tutelare le posizioni finanziarie raggiunte e sulla politica seguita dalla monarchia sabauda nell’incameramento delle proprietà. Exile in Switzerland and then in Paris he was condemned to death in absentia. The analysis of his great heritage, which was confiscated, represents an excellent case study on the requisitions of properties which, compared to that of other comrades’ possessions, allows to make general considerations on the strategies followed by the exiles to protect their financial positions and on the politics followed by the Savoy monarchy in the expropriation of properties.
