This article discusses the linguistic means and the discursive strategies through which politicians have expressed their own political positions and the positions of their own group within the German parliamentary debate on the issue of immigration in two different historical periods (1992- 93 and 2015). Despite the current socio-political situation and that of the early 90s present very different characteristics, the analysis will show the persistence of rhetorical and discursive models in both historical periods and at the same time a certain innovation especially in terms of vocabulary. Pragmatic, textual and lexical considerations will illustrate the theoretical framework with the aid of concrete examples.

Abstract
This article discusses the linguistic means and the discursive strategies through which politicians have expressed their own political positions and the positions of their own group within the German parliamentary debate on the issue of immigration in two different historical periods (1992- 93 and 2015). Despite the current socio-political situation and that of the early 90s present very different characteristics, the analysis will show the persistence of rhetorical and discursive models in both historical periods and at the same time a certain innovation especially in terms of vocabulary. Pragmatic, textual and lexical considerations will illustrate the theoretical framework with the aid of concrete examples.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
