This chapter aims to develop the ability of non-native undergraduate students to evaluate the effectiveness of their academic writing in English, especially under exam conditions. The chapter focuses on how to understand exam questions or tasks, thus producing a text that is well-focussed and to the point. Students will also learn how to write a variety of descriptive and analytical texts. Finally, drawing on authentic examples of errors and infelicities found in students’ papers, the most recurrent linguistic challenges encountered when writing in L2 English are examined.
