Start-up. Innovation Philosophy

The paper aims to give a first definition of the borders of a Philosophy of Innovation, which could take place inside the general framework of the so called “Culture of Innovation”: I stress that the more we get used into paying attention and becoming sensitive to the transformations, the more we can be able to live in and manage them. Thus, I firstly highlight that the contemporary complex societies are going through an age of deep transformations (§ 1). Then, I explain the reason why philosophy could play an important role in such situation, by offering tools for making transformations conceivable and explicit (§ 2). So, I discuss these philosophical tools, insisting on the rigorous manner in which philosophy deals with problems (§ 3), and claiming that thus philosophy is able to make us see the intrinsic problematic nature of innovations. Finally, I suggest some “philosophical theses on innovation” (§ 5).
