The research “Students with disabilities, children of migrants” investigates the relationship between migrant families with disabilities and the Italian school system, including pre-school educational opportunities. It was commissioned by the Municipality of Bologna - Department of Education and Antidiscrimination Policies - which intended to adopt guidelines and tools to facilitate the inclusion of migrant students with disabilities (aged 0–14) with their families. Data in this article are drawn from an exploratory research that explored the barriers and the facilitators to the inclusion of migrant families with children with disabilities. Data show that school is playing an important role in promoting inclusive process both in schools both in the social environment and in creating a sense of belonging in migrant families within the host society.
