Circulation et traduction française des termes à l’international : le cas d’« intersectionnalité »

Dans cet article, nous nous intéressons à la manière dont le terme « intersectionality » circule dans les discours des organisations internationales à partir de sa parution en 1998, et comment il est ensuite traduit en français par les institutions concernées. La méthode d’analyse adoptée est celle de l’analyse du discours « à la française », telle qu’elle peut enrichir les recherches en terminologie et en traduction. Cette méthode permet de poser l’interdiscours comme constitutif de la circulation discursive du matériel lexical et discursif et d’observer le positionnement des sujets à son intérieur. L’utilisation de cette méthode permet de réfléchir à la manière dont la traduction française des termes liés à l’intersectionnalité varie et évolue par rapport à la manière dont le concept allogène « gender » est adapté dans les français des organisations concernées et par rapport aux approches féministes sous- jacentes. In this article, we focus on how the term “intersectionality” has been circulating in the discourse of international organizations since 1998, and how it is translated into French by the institutions concerned. We use “French” discourse analysis to approach terminology and translation. Consequently, we observe the discursive circulation of lexicon and the positioning of subjects within interdiscourse. We reflect on how the French translation of terms related to intersectionality varies and evolves in relation to the way in which the allogeneic concept “gender” is adapted in French by the organizations concerned and in relation to the underlying feminist approaches.
