Sibe Miličićs Wiener Doktorarbeit: ein Beitrag zu seiner Biographie

This paper concerns that part of the biography of Sibe Miličić (1866-1944) which relates to his time as a postgraduate student specialising in Romance and Slavonic Studies at the university in Vienna, where, in 1913 before a 'mixed' commission of Slavists and Romanicists, he gained his doctorate. The intention is to present and analyse Miličić's doctoral thesis “Die inhaltlichen und formellen Unterschiede zwischen Leopardis Primi Idilli und Grandi Idilli", examining its structure, themes, methodological approaches and bibliographical references, and ultimately to evaluate his contribution to the literature on Leopardi and the innovative aspects present in the scholar's readings of the Italian poet.
