The present paper deals with texts somehow related to magic, in the broadest meaning of the term, in the Qumran library. The analysis focuses on astrological, physiognomic, and apotropaic texts, that are well attested in the Qumran literature in spite of the biblical prohibition, a prohibition which was surely known to the Qumran sectaries, being reiterated also in the Temple Scroll. Moreover, some texts, which deal with magic in the broader context of the Jewish literature of the Second Temple period, are investigated as well, as some artifacts found in the Judaean desert caves.

Abstract
The present paper deals with texts somehow related to magic, in the broadest meaning of the term, in the Qumran library. The analysis focuses on astrological, physiognomic, and apotropaic texts, that are well attested in the Qumran literature in spite of the biblical prohibition, a prohibition which was surely known to the Qumran sectaries, being reiterated also in the Temple Scroll. Moreover, some texts, which deal with magic in the broader context of the Jewish literature of the Second Temple period, are investigated as well, as some artifacts found in the Judaean desert caves.File in questo prodotto:
