This essay aims to identify some specific images of childhood in the Italian cinema of the 1910s, with particolar attention to the representation of the child in relation to the Risorgimento and post-unitary wars (the Italo-Turkish war and, above all, the First World War). The aim is to check how the mise-en-scène of childhood in films like Il sogno di un bimbo d’Italia, La guerra e il sogno di Momi, Bandiera bianca orientates the project of ideological construction of children promoted by the hegemonic cultures of Liberal Italy.
