The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that the The Strange Tale of Panorama Island, a novel written by the crime master Edogawa Ranpo and turned into manga by the underground artist Maruo Suehiro, may be considered a perfect example of intertesuality and intermediality between literature and manga, as their intertwining proves that the core subject does not change according to the medium by which it is transmitted, rather it goes under a metamorphosis and acts over the readers in the same way.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that the The Strange Tale of Panorama Island, a novel written by the crime master Edogawa Ranpo and turned into manga by the underground artist Maruo Suehiro, may be considered a perfect example of intertesuality and intermediality between literature and manga, as their intertwining proves that the core subject does not change according to the medium by which it is transmitted, rather it goes under a metamorphosis and acts over the readers in the same way.
