At the end of the First World War, Germany is crossed by revolutionary events of great importance and extension. In Bavaria, the leader of the November uprising is Kurt Eisner, a Social Democratic political leader, supporter of an ethical socialism with neo-Kantian veins. The difficult political phase, of which he was the protagonist, was for him and his followers the opportunity to propose a ‘new democracy’ for Germany, in which the councilist ‘spirit’ would harmonize with the representative institutions typical of the Western tradition.
