The aim of this contribution is to provide a framework of archaeological knowledge of the forti cations of ancient Tindari in late antiquity. It presents the scarce information derived from bibliography and from Lamboglia’s excavation journals (1951-1952), which refer to “late” parts of the walls whose chronology is not better determinable. This information, in conjunction with other archaeological evidence, shows that the area was not completely abandoned, but that settlement conditions changed.

Abstract
The aim of this contribution is to provide a framework of archaeological knowledge of the forti cations of ancient Tindari in late antiquity. It presents the scarce information derived from bibliography and from Lamboglia’s excavation journals (1951-1952), which refer to “late” parts of the walls whose chronology is not better determinable.
