Over the past 15 years, the publication of university sustainability reports has gradually spread worldwide, with the aim of communicating with transparency the performance of the university in terms of economic, social and environmental sustainability, thus promoting the dialogue with a wide range of stakeholders and contributing to sustainable development. In Italy, the role played by the university has considerably changed and as a result, the higher level of autonomy enjoyed by the university requires a higher level of accountability, also because the traditional university’s mission – research and higher education – has expanded, including sustainability. This paper aims at presenting the case of the University of Turin with a particular focus on the relationship between the development of Sustainability Report and Performance Measurement Systems.
