Hamartomas are congenital malformations composed of a heterotopic mass of neurosecretory neurons, fiber bundles and glial cells, frequently associated with true precocious puberty, usually occurring before 3 years of age. They can be associated with laughter or generalized tonic-clonic seizures, mental retardation, behavioral disturbances and dysmorphic syndromes. The occurrence of seizures is uncommon when the mass diameter is less than 10 mm, whereas a larger mass is associated with a high risk of seizures.

They can be associated with laughter or generalized tonic-clonic seizures, mental retardation, behavioral disturbances and dysmorphic syndromes.
