The topic of Enrico Persico’s relations with Torino’s Centro di Studi Metodologici (CSM) has many connections with all the other aspects of the life and scientific work of the Roman physicist. In this paper, Persico’s experience in the CSM is reconstructed, its roots are traced back to the period in Torino prior to the foundation of the Center, the reasons for his resignation are identified, and the legacy that this experience has left on his later work is highlighted. The unpublished documents conserved in various Italian archives offer a wealth of information that sheds new light on this aspect of Persico’s scientific activity. In particular, the unpublished, hitherto unknown, commemorative speech written by Ludovico Geymonat is revealing.
