A bibliography on lichens in Sicily has been compiled and is here provided, as a comprehensive source to facilitate further studies focused on the regional territory. We checked the available literature from 1692 to 2020. We listed alphabetically a selection of 395 key publications and provided some comments on their distribution in time and space, and on the main studied topics. The complete reference list is freely available online.

Abstract
