The Confession of Faith by the Pseudo-Athanasius of Alexandria in the Church Slavonic translation of Dmitry Gerasimov. Interlinear edition Within the textual ‘corpus’ of the commented Psalter by Bruno, Bishop of Würzburg, one finds the so-called Athanasian Creed (Quicumque vult), which owes its name to the Church father Athanasius of Alexandria (wrongly considered to be its author). The text, which deals with the Trinity doctrine and with Jesus’s twofold nature, and denial by Arianism, is accompanied by a commentary that is often tautological. Translated by Dmitry Gerasimov, the Slavonic version is now preserved in all full copies of Bruno’s Psalter and in other manuscripts. It proves to be very interesting both linguistically and theologically. An edition of the commented Athanasian Creed, based on all the extant manuscripts, is provided in this article for the first time with the Latin text running below the Slavonic translation.
