This paper aims to describe and analyse the historical cants of Piedmont. The overview describes the number of varieties of language in Piedmont, which were examined in this study, and who the cant speakers were; some issues about the bibliography are then illustrated, highlighting the difficulties faced in sourcing and collecting every possible cant term. The typological analysis conducted to investigate the collection of terms is then presented, before the report of every possible convergence between different words from different cants. The examination leads finally to the identification of possible linguistic currents and areas through which the cant terms moved and circulated.

Abstract
This paper aims to describe and analyse the historical cants of Piedmont. The overview describes the number of varieties of language in Piedmont, which were examined in this study, and who the cant speakers were; some issues about the bibliography are then illustrated, highlighting the difficulties faced in sourcing and collecting every possible cant term. The typological analysis conducted to investigate the collection of terms is then presented, before the report of every possible convergence between different words from different cants. The examination leads finally to the identification of possible linguistic currents and areas through which the cant terms moved and circulated.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
