By investigating the economic dimension of autonomy, this chapter explores how labour market disadvantages a!ect youth perspectives on their economic security and how they define autonomy subjectively in light of their available resources. Specifically, the focus is on the subjective dimension of economic autonomy and on its links to both young people’s self-representations and their perceptions of job insecurity in two di!erent countries: Italy and Poland.
