Social impact measurement and reporting methodologies are gaining more and more professional and scientific attention. Although the literature has focused on specific case studies and literature reviews, no research currently focuses on the bibliometric variables of the knowledge stream analysed. This study aims to fill this gap by analysing 124 papers published between 1976 and February 2021. The analysis demonstrates a scientific focus on several leading international journals. Besides, we discover through a comparative analysis of how social impact reporting, although also entering private companies' sphere, is more widespread at the level of no-profit organizations at the request of public administrations. Also, we discover the beginning of technology use for impact reporting, a link that will be further explored in future research.

Abstract
Social impact measurement and reporting methodologies are gaining more and more professional and scientific attention. Although the literature has focused on specific case studies and literature reviews, no research currently focuses on the bibliometric variables of the knowledge stream analysed. This study aims to fill this gap by analysing 124 papers published between 1976 and February 2021. The analysis demonstrates a scientific focus on several leading international journals. Besides, we discover through a comparative analysis of how social impact reporting, although also entering private companies' sphere, is more widespread at the level of no-profit organizations at the request of public administrations. Also, we discover the beginning of technology use for impact reporting, a link that will be further explored in future research.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
