Abstract

This paper is focused on a famous Greek curse text first published in 1901, when it was presented as the transcription of a lead epigraph discovered in an Amorgos field during the summer of 1899. The artifact itself was never seen by anyone but its alleged discoverer and the curse text might be suspected of being forged or interpolated: several clues may lead in that direction.
