Libanius' epistolary reconstructs the relationship between the orator of Antioch and Saturninus Secundus Salustius, a great official in the service of several emperors in the early Sixties of the IV century AD. It is followed from its beginnings in the years of Julian to the progressive eclpise of Salustius' power after Procopius' usurpations in the early years of the Valentinians' reign.
