The article examines some problems of textual history related to the book of 1 Samuel from the point of view of the so-called lower criticism. In particular, on the one hand the importance of the Qumran testimony for a correct evaluation of the LXX tradition is emphasized, and on the other hand the uidity of the ‘biblical’ text in the Second Temple period is stressed.
