The aim of this paper is to highlight some little-known aspects of the didactic and methodological work of Gino Fano, one of the most outstanding Italian geometers belonging to the School of algebraic geometry. Besides adopting the main pedagogical and epistemological assumptions of this community, Fano elaborated them in an original way, combining the legacy of Klein’s vision and the challenges of the Italian educational debate of the time. Fano’s commitment, though being sporadic, was characterized by some very peculiar elements, in particular the action within the women’s evening workers schools, and that in favour of the mixed university curricula in Mathematics and Physics.

Abstract
The aim of this paper is to highlight some little-known aspects of the didactic and methodological work of Gino Fano, one of the most outstanding Italian geometers belonging to the School of algebraic geometry. Besides adopting the main pedagogical and epistemological assumptions of this community, Fano elaborated them in an original way, combining the legacy of Klein’s vision and the challenges of the Italian educational debate of the time. Fano’s commitment, though being sporadic, was characterized by some very peculiar elements, in particular the action within the women’s evening workers schools, and that in favour of the mixed university curricula in Mathematics and Physics.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
