Visiones desde los partidos politicos latinoamericanos : el nacimiento de la Copppal y la Internacional Socialista (1976-1983)

This article reconstructs the origins of the first transnational organization of Latin American Progressive Parties (Copppal), closely linked to the vicissitude of the Socialist International, that was going through an extraordinary expansion in the region. More than the convergences in values and political goals, this article focuses on different visions, defining the true “horizon” of Latin American progressive; it will provide a new interpretation about the role of the international organization of Latin American progressive parties in the process of democratization of the region and in the construction of new forums of concertation for the progressives.
