The opening word of the Getty Hexameters’ historiola (col. 1, 8-20) is ⊦ΟΣΣΑ: a term which in this context is problematic and which could be corrected to ἄσκια. Furthermore, the expression παῖς ... Δήμητρος (col. 1, 10) could be a ba- nalization of an original γ ̓αἴξ ... Δήμητρος. The two conjectures place coherently the text within the frame of the documents belonging to the same ‘living tradition’ under both a phonetic and diegetic point of view; furthermore, they pave the way for an interpretation of the epigraph, which might explain its textual features as well as its materiality in light of the relationship it maintains with its contempor- ary relatives.
