The aim of this work is to draw attention to some texts of the Iberian missionary tradition in which the East and West Indies are related and made part of one great history of humankind. The close link between the two Indies, in their symbolic position to the right and left of Europe, is certainly aimed at solving the riddles related to the origin of the Indians, but it also has the purpose of elaborating a theory on the diffusion of Christianity in the world. The universality of the spread of the Gospel message from its origins was proven through the similarities and conformities found between the East Indies and the West Indies. They suggested migrations and contacts and assumed degrees of civilization that belonged to different phases of the same history that the missionaries were called to continue
