Beppe Fenoglio’s novel Una questione privata (Garzanti, 1963; Einaudi, 1978), constitutes an emblematic case in terms of thematic similarity to Spanish history that could have sustained a synchronic translation with reference to its year of publication, but that perhaps would have been unacceptable during the Francoist regime (1939-1975). This article aims to investigate the translational choices by Elena del Amo (Un asunto privado Ediciones Baratairia, 2004).
