many essays and works of fiction reflecting on the meaning of the artificial intelli-gence we are giving rise to are centered on the notion of "humanity," as they ask who are we who create or dream of creating certain machines. At the same time, in rea-soning about how these same machines work or will work, many authors wonder whether they will, one day, resemble us so much that they appear human, whether they will surpass us, or, more simply, whether they will enable us to develop our be-ing to the fullest. In all cases, behind the reasoning that is brought forth on these is-sues, it is evident that there are narratives, linking humans and machines to values, roles, ways of desiring and acting, that determine specific visions of the present world and the world to come. In this article, an attempt is made to make a classifica-tion of these narratives, so as to show how the cultural models by which we are de-bating the meaning of a technology that promises to radically change the reality in which we live function.

Abstract
many essays and works of fiction reflecting on the meaning of the artificial intelli-gence we are giving rise to are centered on the notion of "humanity," as they ask who are we who create or dream of creating certain machines. In this article, an attempt is made to make a classifica-tion of these narratives, so as to show how the cultural models by which we are de-bating the meaning of a technology that promises to radically change the reality in which we live function.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
