The contribution aims to highlight the traces of the Way of St James in the sub-alpine area by detecting the onomastic testi-monies connected to the sacred places that arose along the pilgrims’ itineraries. This analysis will enable us to highlight the breadth of the road network that covered the territory traversed by pilgrims with the great Alpine transit routes that constituted the link to the main pilgrimage destinations in medieval and modern times. The toponymic findings obtained from the travellers’ itineraries and from documentary sources will constitute the starting point for verifying the reflections of the Jacobean cult on the territory, confirmed by an abundant iconographic and symbolic heritage, with different interpretations in different areas of the region.

The toponymic findings obtained from the travellers’ itineraries and from documentary sources will constitute the starting point for verifying the reflections of the Jacobean cult on the territory, confirmed by an abundant iconographic and symbolic heritage, with different interpretations in different areas of the region.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
