Paper’s goal is to analyze some aspects of the collections of dominican sermons preached between Thirteenth and Fifteenth Centuries, and listed by both Schneyer and Kaeppeli-Panella, with special regard to the Dominican Lombard Province, as well as their influence on medieval society, culture and spirituality. From the middle of Thirteenth century onwards, the leadership of the dominican order encouraged the composition and dissemination of sermons’ collections, thereby providing friars with an excellent tool for the pastoral care. Hundreds of Thousands of manuscripts were drawn up by preachers and compilers often remained anonymous, for personal, conventual or even scholastic use. This wide-ranging production confirms the complexity and richness of the friars’ involvement in the medieval preaching.
