in this article, I show how doctors have been portrayed on Facebook/Meta in the course of the Covid-19 pandemic. I focus in particular on the “mythical” representations of doctors, according to the notion of myth that derives from the studies of Lévi-Strauss. I therefore deal with those narratives which tell facts that, to some extent, reverse or overturn the normal conception of the doctor’s work in everyday life and that have been used by people to reflect on the meaning of their experience of the pandemic, as well as on how our society functions. Since, in order to conduct my research, I had to make use of a software to collect and sort large amounts of data, the other theme I deal with in this paper is how one can develop sociosemiotic analysis methodologies of a quali-quantitative type that produce significant results, when he wants to work on a very large corpus of texts produced within social networks.

Abstract

in this article, I show how doctors have been portrayed on Facebook/Meta in the course of the Covid-19 pandemic.
