The role of the local communities, the role of central and local government and the integration to top-down initiatives with bottom-up, are some of the main issues related to the implementation of place-based policies for internal and rural areas. In particular, local administrations have gained a crucial role in helping shape and implementing policies in inner areas. The “re-territorialisation” of decision-making becomes an increasingly significant factor in modern democracies: the municipalities are promoting place-based rural development policies, becoming more autonomous and more proactive in policy-making. The two cases of study here presented – “Casa a 1 euro a Ollolai” and “Nughedu Welcome” – are part of this framework of experimental policies applied in Sardinian territory
