This paper aims to highlight a forgotten aspect of the long career of Gino Fogolari (1875-1941), Director of the Gallerie dell’Accademia of Venice and Soprintendente of medieval and modern art of the Veneto, namely his strenuous opposition to the plan of “sventramento” promoted by the Fascist government in Padua which could, a few years later, have influenced in the decision of the Minister of Educazione Nazionale, Cesare Maria De Vecchi, to remove a too passionate official.
