« Per l’affocato riso de la stella ». Lettura del canto xiv del Paradiso

La lettura proposta ripercorre il canto che, ribaltando l’equilibrio di Par. xiii, esordisce con un’immagine quasi domestica e si chiude anticipando addirittura i versi fi nali di Par. xxxiii e dell’intera Commedia. A fare da cardine e a conferire compattezza al percorso si trovano due brevissime riflessioni dell’Auctor introdotte dallo stesso avverbio dubitativo ‘forse’. Nel primo caso l’avverbio precede un esempio di umiltà e retto uso dell’ingegno e ci permette di volgere lo sguardo nel profondo inferno. Nel secondo caso, invece, un cenno subito represso tradisce la partecipazione emotiva di un cammino sempre in bilico fra la fi nitezza e la fi sicità della vita terrena e l’esperienza ultramondana. _______________________________________ « Per l’affocato riso de la stella ». Reading of Paradise xiv · The proposed reading retraces the canto which, overturning the balance of Par. xiii, begins with an almost domestic image and closes anticipating even the final verses of Par. xxxiii and of the entire Comedy. Acting as a pivot and giving compactness to the passage are two very brief reflections of the Auctor introduced by the same dubitative adverb ‘perhaps’. In the first case the adverb precedes an example of humility and righteous use of wits and allows us to turn our gaze into the depths of hell. In the second case, however, a nod immediately repressed betrays the emotional participation of a journey always poised between the finiteness and physicality of earthly life and the otherworldly experience.
