We prove the existence of global solutions and of a global attractor for a regularized viscous 3D tropical climate model. The regularization is carried out by means of the Helmholtz filter, in the spirit of what is done for some families of LES-turbulence models, thus obtaining (as alpha-model) the 3D Bardina tropical climate model for which we consider the associated dynamics.
